Screen and child: how to diversify online learning

Screen and child: how to diversify online learning

For the third year in a row, the online format has been an integral part of the educational process. On the one hand, it has opened up many opportunities, and on the other hand, it has posed a number of serious challenges:

      1. How to ensure that children are fully involved in the learning process.
      2. How to fairly control and assess students' knowledge.
      3. How to adapt traditional lessons to the online format.
      4. How to create equal learning conditions for each student.

And of course, how to diversify the learning process to make it effective and interesting. It is this aspect that we will discuss today.

      Creative approaches to e-learning

      1. Interactive exercises

Activities that help maximize student engagement in the learning process. In the offline environment, it was often group work: developing posters and projects, brainstorming, joint tasks, etc. The online process can be organized in a similar way using Zoom rooms or services such as Learning Apps, Wordart, Kahoot, and others.

Traditional offline exercises such as quizzes or group project presentations can also be integrated into online work.

      1. Media resources

The use of multimedia for teaching is not a novelty for Ukrainian educators. Therefore, you can broadcast videos and presentations, conduct listening sessions directly in Zoom using the screen sharing function, having previously enabled the corresponding video in your browser.

Teachers often use YouTube, Google presentations, and Canva to demonstrate and create teaching materials.

Life hack: YouTube playlists can be used to save educational materials according to a topic or class.

      1. Master classes and workshops for children online

Today, you can conduct any master class online: modeling, mosaics, art therapy, public speaking, etc. All you need to do is adapt the script of ready-made classes and make sure that each student has the necessary materials.

Such workshops can also be ordered from time to time from creative studios. As a rule, such projects are done on a turnkey basis, providing children with all the necessary materials.

      What parents need to remember

      1. High-quality online learning is possible only if you have the necessary technical means and communication.
      2. To ensure maximum involvement of your child in the learning process, you should consider using software to control social networks or third-party sites.
      3. The fewer distractions there are, the higher the level of engagement in the learning process.

Developing emotional intelligence in children is a joint effort between parents, nannies, and educators. However, the main responsibility always lies with parents and their ability to create the necessary conditions for the child's development.
